Hi Wayne, Being a long time collector of old Venetian tabulars myself, this is one of the best collections I have EVER seen. The two "ghost" examples are spectacular and rare. Thanks for the post. Carl

Here's another black one, and a green oval to match one of your tabulars Carole

This black bead matches one of your tabulars... ... and is in its original lace spangle, dating from the mid 19th century. Carole

Very nice
I would love to see a strand of those round ones, I also really like the bobbin. The combination of wood and bone (Ivory?) is very nice. It looks like the 2 pieces are riveted together, very cool construction.

Not much of a "collection", but here are 2 tabulars in my favorite color, brick red. This pic was taken with my new camera, the one Carl recommended a while back. It is incredibly easy to take close-ups of beads that come out with great depth of field. It is a Kodak EasyShare Z710 - used ones are pretty easy to find on the auction sites. Thanks for showing your photos Carl & thanks for the great camera tip!

Now that the close-up photography works so well, I have to get better background materials for bead pics- any suggestions? I had been using a neutral grey mat but the texture is very unattractive. And sorry about the gross cat hairs in the picture - unexpected details now appearing!

Most of the compression will be taken up in the solid background. Which allows for more detail in the beads. (Also no distraction from viewing the bead.) Compression is important for web-based images to reduce file size, which allows for faster loading of images onto the browser. For those not familiar with compression - the way it works is that it assigns the same value to similar pixels adjacent to each other. A large area of pixels with the same value is where the greatest compression with be. The white feather bead image with black background is only 20k. The Tom Boylan bead, which shows more detail at the same compression level, is 80k. Well below the 169k max to post on BCN.

Hi Billy It’s been a long time. Glad to see you here. I hope all is well with you and your family. I am sure the people on this board will love see some of your collection. I am sure it has grown in leaps and bounds since I last saw it. Has your son started collecting yet? My daughter just looks at me funny when I am talking about my beads, but then she is 16 and always looks at me funny.
